Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement





AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [FS5A-EL]

WARNING:
- A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before changing the ATF.

1. Drain the ATF.
a. Remove the aerodynamic under cover NO.2. Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation

b. Remove the dipstick in the order indicated in the table.










c. Remove the drain plug and washer to drain the ATF into a separate suitable container.






2. Add ATF.
a. Install a new washer and the drain plug.

Tightening torque
- 30-41 Nm {3.1-4.1 kgf-m, 23-30 ft-lbf}

b. Add ATF.

ATF
- Mazda Genuine ATF M-V

ATF Capacity (approx. quantity)
- Draining ATF from drain plug: 3.0 L {3.2 US qt, 2.6 Imp qt}
- Overhauling transaxle: 5.0 L {5.3 US qt, 4.4 Imp qt}

c. Install the aerodynamic under cover NO.2. Aerodynamic Under Cover No. 2 Removal/Installation

d. Install the dipstick in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:
- If the O-ring is damaged, replace the O-ring with a new one. Otherwise, ATF could leak.

Tightening torque
- 8-10 Nm {82-101 kgf-cm, 71-88 in-lbf}

3. Inspect the ATF level. Testing and Inspection
