Location
The electronic shift lever module control module (N15/5) is located in the floor selector.
Task
The electronic shift lever module receives digital and analog input signals, converts these and actuates different components or transmits information via CAN to various control modules.
Input signals:
^ Selector lever position
^ W/S program selection button
^ Touchbutton +/-
^ Voltage supply (terminal 87)
Output signals:
^ R/P lock-out coil
^ Gate illumination (terminal 58d)
Via the engine compartment bus there is a connection to:
^ ETC control module (N15/3)
^ Traction systems control module (N47)
^ Electronic ignition/starter switch control module (N73)
Design
The electronic shift lever module control module (N15/5) consists of a printed-circuit board with various optical-electronic switches and a plug socket.
Function
The selector lever positions and the touch shifts carried out are recognized by means of the optical-electronic switches in a non-contact manner. Each time the position of the selector lever changes, a photoelectric barrier is closed or interrupted.
The following information is received via CAN:
Traction Systems control module (N47)
^ Rear right wheel speed
^ Rear left wheel speed
Instrument cluster (A1)
^ Terminal 58 dimmed
Electronic ignition/starter switch control module (N73)
^ Stop lamp switch (S9/1)
^ Initializing, personalizing, authenticating (DASS3)
The following information is sent via CAN:
ETC control model (N15/3)
^ Seletor lever position
^ W/S program selection button
^ Kickdown switch (S16/6)
^ Touch button +/-
Electronic ignition/starter switch control module (N73)
^ DAS3 information (enable request)
