Test C: DTC B1601 - PATS Received Incorrect Key-Code From Ignition Key Transponder
PINPOINT TEST C: DTC B1601 - PATS RECEIVED INCORRECT KEY-CODE FROM IGNITION KEY TRANSPONDERNormal Operation
The passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver communicates with the PATS key. During each vehicle start sequence, the PATS transceiver reads the PATS key identification code and sends the data to the instrument cluster (IC). The IC will then send a message to the PCM. The PCM will carry out the function of controlling engine enable. The IC initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is turned to the ON or START position.
- DTC B1601 (PATS Received Incorrect Key-Code From Ignition Key Transponder) - sets when there is an unprogrammed PATS key. The concern is not with the PATS key itself, but the key must be programmed into the PATS memory (unless the maximum number of keys are already programmed).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PATS key
- PATS transceiver
- IC
