B1667 - Driver's Mirror Up/Down Output Circuit Failure

DTC B1667: Driver's Mirror Up/Down Output Circuit Failure

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.

B1667-1 - Rerun Test

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Turn ignition switch OFF. These two steps "wake up" the driver seat module.
- Open driver side door. This disables delay accessory function.

NOTE: Seat will move a short distance in each direction during self-test.

- Execute self-test.
- Inspect driver mirror and make sure that there are no obstructions.
- Rerun self-test diagnostics.

Is DTC B1667 still present?

YES GO to B1667-2.
NO System operating normally. RESTORE vehicle.

B1667-2 - Test Driver Mirror Vertical Outputs

- Make sure ignition switch remains OFF.
- Connect Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector.
- Enter Diagnostic Data Link.
- Enter Driver Seat Module.
- Enter Active Command Modes.
- Select Power Mirror Control.
- Command Driver Mirror Up.
- Command Driver Mirror Down. Note motion of mirror.
- Command Driver Mirror Up. Note motion of mirror.

Does mirror move during last two movements?

YES SERVICE circuits 541 (DB) and 947 (Y/R) for open circuit or short to ground or B+. TEST mirror for motor and mechanical operation. If all check out OK and mirror still does not operate, REPLACE driver seat module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1667-3.

B1667-3 - Test Potentiometer Circuits 951 (DB/W) AND 949 (R/W)

- Using a voltmeter connected to a known good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer inputs:

Driver Vertical: pin C2-1 9, circuit 951 (DB/W)
Driver Horizontal: pin C2-8, circuit 949 (R/W)

Is voltage reading less than 0.5 volt on both circuits? Yes

YES SERVICE circuit 958 (GY/R) for open circuit to driver mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO RETEST GO to B1667-4.

B1667-4 - Test Potentiometer Circuit 951 (DB/W)

- Using a voltmeter connected to a known good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input:

Driver Vertical: pin C2-1 9, circuit 951 (DB/W)

Is voltage reading less than 0.5 volt?

YES SERVICE circuit 951 (DB/W) for open circuit or damaged potentiometer. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1667-5.

B1667-5 - Test Potentiometer Circuit For Voltage

- Using a voltmeter connected to a known good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input:

Driver Vertical: pin C2-1 9, circuit 951 (DB/W)

Is voltage reading 0.5-4.5 volts?

YES REPLACE mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1667-6.

B1667-6 Test Potentiometer Voltage On Both Circuits

- Using a voltmeter connected to a known good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input(s) for motion which did not work:

Driver Vertical: pin C2-19, circuit 951 (DB/W)
Driver Horizontal: pin C2-8, circuit 949 (R/W)

Is the voltage reading 4.5-5 volts on both circuits?

YES SERVICE circuit 955 (G/Y) for open circuit to driver mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE driver seat module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
