B1669 - Passenger Mirror Up/Down Output Circuit Failure
DTC B1669 - Passenger Mirror Up/Down Circuit FailureNOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.
B1669-1 - Rerun Test
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Turn ignition switch OFF. These two steps "wake up" the driver seat module.
- Open driver side door. This disables delay accessory function.
NOTE: Seat will move a short distance in each direction during self-test.
- Execute self-test.
- Inspect driver mirror and make sure that there are no obstructions.
- Rerun self-test diagnostics.
Is DTC B1669 still present?
YES GO to B1669-2.
NO System operating normally.
B1669-2 - Test Passenger's Mirror Vertical Outputs
- Make sure ignition remains OFF.
- Connect Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector.
- Enter Diagnostic Data Link.
- Enter Driver Seat Module.
- Enter Active Command Modes.
- Select Power Mirror Control.
- Command Passenger Mirror Up.
- Command Passenger Mirror Down. Note motion of mirror.
- Command Passenger Mirror Up. Note motion of mirror.
Does mirror move during last two movements?
YES GO to B1669-3 to service potentiometer.
NO SERVICE Circuits 544 (P) and 957 (PIW) for open circuit or short to ground B+. TEST mirror for motor and mechanical operation. If all check out OK and mirror still does not operate, REPLACE driver seat module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
B1669-3 - Test Potentiometer Circuit 958 (GY/R) For Open
- Using a voltmeter connected to a know good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input:
Passengers Vertical: pin C2-17, circuit 957 (P/W)
Passengers Horizontal: pin C2-18, circuit 954 (DG/W)
Is voltage reading less than 0.5 volt on both circuits?
YES SERVICE circuit 958 (GY/R) for open circuit to passenger's mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1669-4.
B1669-4 - Test Potentiometer Circuit 957 (P/W) For Open
- Using a voltmeter connected to a know good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input:
Passenger's Vertical: pin C2-17, circuit 957 (P/W)
Is voltage reading less than 0.5 volt?
YES SERVICE circuit 957 (P/W) for open circuit or damaged potentiometer. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1669-5.
B1669-5 - Test Potentiometer Mirror Circuit
- Using a voltmeter connected to a know good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer input:
Passenger's Vertical: pin C2-17, circuit 957 (P/W)
Is voltage reading 0.5 - 4.5 volts?
YES REPLACE mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1669-6.
B1669-6 - Test Potentiometer Circuit 955 (G/Y) For Open
- Using a voltmeter connected to a know good ground, probe back of connector C2 of driver seat module and read voltage at potentiometer inputs for motion which did not work:
Passenger's Vertical: pin C2-17, circuit 957 (P/W)
Passenger's Horizontal: pin C2-18, circuit 954 (DG/W)
Is voltage reading 4.5 - 5 volts on both circuits?
YES SERVICE Circuit 955 (GY) for open circuit to passenger mirror. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE driver seat module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
