DTC B1965 - Horizontal Pot Feedback Circuit Short To Ground

B1965-1 - Rerun Self-Test

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Turn ignition switch OFF. These two steps "wake up" the driver seat module.
- Open driver side door. This disables delay accessory function.

NOTE: Seat will move a short distance in each direction during self4est.

- Execute self-test.
- Inspect all circuits under seat. Make sure all potentiometers are connected.
- Clear DTCs.
- Rerun self-test.

Is DTC B1953 still present?

YES GO to B1965-2.
NO System operating normally.

B1965-2 - Check For Additional DTCs

Are DTCs B1957 and B1965 also present?

YES GO to B1965-6.
NO GO to B1956-3.

B1965-3 - Test Potentiometer Input

- Using a voltmeter, carefully back probe horizontal potentiometer input circuit 442 (LG/O) on pin C3-2 of driver seat module for voltage.

Is voltage less than 0.5 volt?

YES GO to B1965-4.
NO REPLACE driver seat module. RETEST system.

B1965-4 - Test Voltage

- Disconnect connector from potentiometer.
- Test circuit 446 (O/W) for voltage.

Is voltage reading 5 volts?

YES GO to B1965-5.
NO SERVICE circuit 446 (O/W) for open circuit. RETEST system.

B1965-5 - Test Circuit 442 (LG/O)

- Disconnect connector C1 from driver seat module
- Using an ohmmeter, probe horizontal potentiometer input circuit 442 (LG/O) on pin C3-2 of driver seat module connector for continuity to ground.

Is there continuity?

YES SERVICE circuit 442 (LG/O) for short to ground. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1965-7.

B1965-6 - Test Supply Voltage

- Disconnect connector from potentiometer.
- Using a voltmeter, carefully test driver seat module connector pin C3-17, circuit 446 (O/W) for voltage.

Is voltage reading 5 volts?

YES SERVICE circuit 446 (O/W) for short to ground or open circuit. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1985-8.

B1965-7 - Test For Open Circuit

- Using an ohmmeter, test circuit 446 (O/W) from potentiometer to driver seat module connector pin C3-17 for continuity.

Is there continuity?

YES REPLACE potentiometer. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 446 (O/W) for open circuit.

B1965-8 - Test For Shorted Potentiometer Feed

- Disconnect connector C3 from driver seat module.
- Using a voltmeter, carefully check driver seat module connector C3-17, circuit 446 (O/W) for voltage.

Is voltage reading 5 volts?

YES SERVICE circuit 446 (O/W) for short to ground or open circuit. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE driver seat module.
