Inspection Procedure 2

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The theft-alarm horn is also used by the keyless entry system's answer back. If the horn sounds with the keyless entry system's answerback, the ETACS-ECU is faulty.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the theft-alarm horn
- Malfunction of the theft-alarm horn relay
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Damaged harness wires or connectors

DIAGNOSIS

Check the keyless entry system horn answerback.
Validate the keyless entry system's horn answerback function. (Refer to Keyless Entry System - Diagnosis.)

If the horn answerback does not operate, refer to Keyless Entry System - Diagnosis.

If the horn answerback does operate, replace the ETACS-ECU.

Confirm that the horn sounds when the alarm operates.
