Fuel Pump Fuse:
REMOVAL
1. Remove the fuse for the fuel pump (located in the fuse panel in the left knee bolster).
2. Turn the ignition key to the start position for approximately 15 seconds (this will release the fuel pressure).
Upper Collector Bolt Removal Sequence:
3. Remove the upper intake collector.
4. Remove the following:
^AAC valve connector.
^Throttle sensor and idle switch connectors.
^Air cut valve water hose.
^PCV hoses.
^Vacuum hoses for gallery,power valve
actuator, brake booster and EGR valve.
^EGR tube.
Lower Collector Bolt Removal Sequence:
5. Remove the lower intake collector from the engine.
6. Remove the engine ground connector.
Injector Rail:
7. Remove the following parts:
^Vacuum hose for the fuel pressure regulator.
^Fuel delivery and return hoses.
^Injector harness connectors.
NOTE: Make a note or sketch of the position of injector terminals in relation to where the wiring harness was situated. This will aid in reassembly.
Injector O-Ring:
8. Remove the injectors and fuel rail as an assembly.
WARNING: Do not place the injector or fuel rail in a vise, this may cause irreparable damage.
9. Remove injector securing bolts and remove injector from the fuel rail.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean all parts (including the sealing area on the manifold) with a suitable cleaner.
2. Install new o-rings (check the electrical connectors for corrosion and cracked insulators or boots).
3. Lubricate the seals and hoses with unleaded fuel only.
4. Reinstall in reverse order with new collector gaskets and check for fuel leaks.
