P0105
DESCRIPTION
The absolute pressure sensor is connected to the MAP/BARO switch solenoid valve by a hose. The sensor detects ambient barometric pressure and intake manifold pressure and sends the voltage signal to the ECM. As the pressure increases, the voltage rises. The absolute pressure sensor is not used to control the engine system. It is used only for on board diagnosis.
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
Perform "Procedure for malfunction A" first, If the DTC cannot be confirmed, perform "Procedure for malfunction B", "OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK". If there is no problem on "Procedure for malfunction B", perform "Procedure for malfunction C".
PROCEDURE FOR MALFUNCTION A
WITH CONSULT
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
(3) Wait at least 6 seconds.
OR
WITH GST
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON" and wait at least 6 seconds.
(2) Select "MODE 3" with GST.
OR
WITH NO TOOLS
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON" and wait at least 6 seconds.
(2) Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 5 seconds.
(3) Perform "Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results)" with ECM.
If the DTC cannot be confirmed, perform "Procedure for malfunction B", "OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK".
PROCEDURE FOR MALFUNCTION C
WITH CONSULT
(1) Start engine and warm it up sufficiently.
(2) Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 5 seconds.
(3) Turn ignition switch "ON" and select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
(4) Start engine and let it idle.
(5) Wait at least 15 seconds.
OR
WITH GST
(1) Start engine and warm it up sufficiently.
(2) Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 5 seconds.
(3) Start engine.
(4) Let engine idle and wait at least 15 seconds.
(5) Select "MODE 3" with GST
OR
WITH NO TOOLS
(1) Start engine and warm it up sufficiently.
(2) Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 5 seconds.
(3) Start engine.
(4) Let engine idle and wait at least 15 seconds.
(5) Turn ignition switch "OFF".
(6) Perform "Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results)" with ECM.
PROCEDURE FOR MALFUNCTION B
OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK
Use this procedure to check the overall function of absolute pressure sensor circuit. During this check, a DTC might not be confirmed.
WITH CONSULT
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Select "ABSOL PRES/SE" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
(3) Make sure that the voltage of "ABSOL PRES/SE" is more than 1.74 [V].
OR
WITH GST
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Select "MAP" in "MODE 1" with GST.
(3) Make sure that the pressure of "MAP" is more than 46 kPa (0.47 kg/cm2, 6.7 psi).
OR
WITH NO TOOLS
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Make sure that the voltage between ECM terminal (66) and ground is more than 1.74[V].
If the DTC cannot be confirmed, perform "Procedure for malfunction C".

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE A
If the trouble is duplicated after "Procedure for malfunction A or B", perform "Procedure A" below. If the trouble is duplicated after "Procedure for malfunction C", perform "Procedure B".
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE B
COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Remove absolute pressure sensor with its harness connector connected.
2. Remove hose from absolute pressure sensor.
3. Turn ignition switch "ON" and check output voltage between terminal (2) and engine ground.
The voltage should be 3.2 to 4.8 V.
4. Use pump to apply vacuum of -26.7 kPa (-200 mmHg, -7.87 inch, -3.87 psi) to absolute pressure sensor as shown in figure and check the output voltage.
The voltage should be 1.0 to 1.4 V lower than the value measured in step 3.
5. If NG, replace absolute pressure sensor.
CAUTION:
Always calibrate the vacuum pump gauge when using it.
