DTC 1003
When the gear position is "P" (A/T models only) or "N", park/neutral position is "ON".
ECM detects the position because the continuity of the line (the "ON" signal) exists.
ECM receives signals from park position switch via A/T control unit.
OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK
Use this procedure to check the overall function of the park/neutral position switch, During this check, a 1st trip DTC might not be confirmed.
With Consult
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Perform "PARK/NEUT POSI SW CKT" in "FUNCTION TEST" mode with CONSULT.
OR
With Consult
(2) Select "P/N POSI 5W" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
(3) Check the "P/N POSI SW" signal under the following conditions.
Condition (Gear Position) / Known good signal
"N" and "P" (A/T only) position / ON
Except the above position / OFF
OR
Without Consult
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Check voltage between ECM terminal (22) and body ground under the following conditions.
Condition (Gear Position) / Voltage(V)(Known good signal)
"N" and "P" (A/T only) position / Approx. 0
Except the above position / Approx. 5
