Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove negative battery cable and drain the radiator.
2. Remove intake duct.
3. Remove drive belt.
4. Remove heater hose and clamp from the coolant pump.
5. Remove radiator inlet hose and clamp from the thermostat.
6. Remove power steering pump bracket.
7. Remove coolant pump bolts then remove coolant pump and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean gasket surface on the coolant pump sealing areas then install new gasket.
2. Install coolant pump.
3. Apply sealer to bolt threads then install coolant pump bolts and torque to specification, see figure 1.
4. Install power steering pump bracket.
^ Torque bracket bolts and nuts to 25 Nm ( 18 ft. lb. ).
5. Install radiator inlet hose and clamp to the thermostat.
6. Install heater hose and clamp to the coolant pump.
7. Install drive belt.
8. Install intake duct.
9. Connect negative battery cable and torque bolts to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Service and Repair / Idle Learn Procedure. Service and Repair
10. Refill the radiator. Refer to Cooling System / Service and Repair / Draining and Refilling. Service and Repair
11. Inspect for leaks.
