Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid

Removal Procedure





1. Open the rear compartment.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .
3. Use a grease pencil to mark the location of the rear compartment lid latch.
4. Remove the 2 bolts (1) attaching the latch assembly (2) to the rear compartment lid.
5. Withdraw the latch assembly (2) from the panel far enough to enable disconnection of the actuator rod (3) and the rear compartment lid release cable (4).
6. Remove the rear compartment lid latch (2) from the rear compartment lid.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the compartment lid release cable (4) and the actuator rod (3) to the rear compartment lid latch (2).
2. Align the rear compartment lid latch (2) to the marks made on the rear compartment lid.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.


3. Install the rear compartment lid latch bolts (1).

Tighten the rear compartment lid latch bolts to 3 N.m (26 lb in).

4. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .

Important: Prior to closing the rear compartment lid, manually close the latch and check operation of the latch assembly via the rear compartment lid release switch and the rear compartment lid release cable assembly. If operation is satisfactory,close the rear compartment lid and recheck operation.


5. Adjust the rear compartment lock striker, if required. Refer to Lock Striker Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .
6. Close the rear compartment.
