Release Cable Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the rear compartment lid latch assembly. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the right-hand rear seat backrest. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Replacement - Rear) in Seats.




4. Remove the screws (2) attaching the cable assembly (1) to the rear compartment lid (4).
5. Remove the retainer (3) attaching the cable assembly (1) to the rear compartment lid (4).
6. Remove the straps (5) attaching the cable assembly (1) to the rear compartment lid wiring harness.
7. Remove the cable assembly (1) from the rear compartment lid (4) and lay it on the rear compartment floor.




8. From within the right-hand rear passenger compartment, remove the screws (1) attaching the cable assembly (2) to the vehicle (3).
9. Feed the cable assembly into the passenger compartment and remove.



Installation Procedure





1. From within the right-hand passenger compartment, position the cable assembly (2) through the vehicle (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the screws (1) to the cable assembly (2).

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





3. Reposition the cable assembly (1) along the rear compartment lid wiring harness and fasten to the straps (5).
4. Install the retainer (3), to the cable assembly (1), to the rear compartment lid (4).
5. Position the cable assembly (1) to the upper rear compartment lid.
6. Install the screws (2) to the cable assembly (1).

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (25 lb in).

7. Install the right-hand rear seat backrest. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Replacement - Rear) in Seats.
8. Install the rear compartment lid latch assembly. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Service and Repair) .
Important: Prior to closing the rear compartment lid, manually close the latch and check operation of the latch assembly via the rear compartment lid release switch and the rear compartment lid release cable assembly. If operation is satisfactory, close the rear compartment lid and recheck operation.



10. Adjust the rear compartment lid latch striker, if necessary. Refer to Lock Striker Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Service and Repair) .
11. Close the rear compartment lid.
