DTC P2119

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview)provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptors
DTC P2119
- Throttle Closed Position Performance

Circuit/System Description

The throttle actuator control (TAC) monitors the throttle position. The throttle blade is spring loaded in both directions, and at rest is slightly open. When the throttle blade is not driven in either direction, it returns to this position. If the TAC module determines that the throttle blade has not returned to the correct de-energized position, the TAC module sends a message to the powertrain control module (PCM) across serial data, and DTC P2110 sets.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The ignition is in the Run position with the engine OFF.
* DTC U0107 is not set.
* The system voltage is more than 8.5 volts.
* The system is not in Battery Saver mode.
* The DTC runs continuously when the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The TAC module detects the throttle blade has not returned to the correct de-energized position.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P2119 is a Type A DTC.
* The control module commands the TAC system to operate in Reduced Engine Power mode.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2119 is a Type A DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

1. If DTCs P1516 or P2101 are also set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions) .
2. Ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
3. Ignition ON, observe the Indicated Throttle Position parameter. The reading should be between 17-27 percent.
4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC, or within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Remove the throttle body assembly. The throttle blade should move without obstructions.

If an obstruction is found, repair as necessary.
If no obstruction if found or the condition can not be repaired, replace the throttle body assembly.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
