Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

S14 is the folding top front latch actuator position switch. The folding top control (FTC) module uses S14 to determine when the top is latched in both the open and closed positions. S14 closes and pulls the signal circuit low when the top is latched.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The folding top is being commanded.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* An open or short to ground on the signal circuit of S14.
* An open on the low reference circuit of S14.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top may be disabled and will not operate properly.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

* A short to B+ may damage S14 and cause a B1307 58 to set.
* A weak battery could cause the top to operate slowly and set B1307 59.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Disconnect the harness connector at S14.
2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.

It the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

3. Connect a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the low reference circuit terminal 2. The scan tool Folding Top Bell Crank Sw. parameter should be Over Center.

If not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace S14.
