DTC Descriptor
DTC B1395 02
- Device Voltage Reference Circuit short to ground
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
S3 and S4 are part of the Rear Compartment Lid Release switch. The folding top control (FTC) module uses S3 and S4 to determine whether the claws at the rear of the deck lid are latched into the deck lid or unlatched. S3 closes and supplies a 12-volt reference to the signal circuit when the claws are unlatched. S4 closes and supplies a 12-volt reference to the signal circuit when the claws are latched.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The FTC module is active.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
A short to ground is detected on the 12-volt reference or signal circuits of S3 and S4.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The top is disabled.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.
Diagnostic Aids
A short to B+ may damage S3 or S4.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the FTC Module.
2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 12 and B+.
• If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
3. Verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 24 and B+.
• If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
4. Remove the Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch.
5. Test for infinite resistance between terminal C and terminal A.
• If less than the specified value, replace the Rear Compartment Lid Release switch.
6. Test for infinite resistance between terminal C and terminal B.
• If less than the specified value, replace the Rear Compartment Lid Release switch.
7. If all circuits test normal, replace the FTC module.
