Circuit/System Description

S17 is part of the Folding Top Front Location Pin Guide - Left assembly. The folding top control (FTC) module uses S17 to determine if the headliner dowel is present at the left front of the header. S17 is closed and pulls the signal circuit low when the dowel is not present.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module is being commanded.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

An open or a short to ground are present on the signal circuit of S17.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The fault is no longer present and the top completes one cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

* DTC B1010 08 may set along with DTC B3683.
* A weak battery may cause DTC B3683 59 to set.
* A short to B+ may damage S17.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at S17.
2. Test for less than 5.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal C and ground.

• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Folding Top Header Dowel Pin parameter is In Position.

• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

4. Connect a fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool Folding Top Header Dowel Pin parameter is Not In Position.

• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open or high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

5. If all circuits test normal, replace S17.
