Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning (SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning).

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the upper instrument panel (I/P) pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement).




3. Remove the I/P module fasteners (1).




4. Disengage the 5 hooks and remove the inflatable restraint I/P module as shown.
5. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Procedures).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module (1) and engage the 5 hooks (2).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the mounting fasteners (1) to the I/P module.
3. Install the upper instrument panel (I/P) pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement).
4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
