Cold Start Injector: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
An electrically operated cold start valve is fitted to intake plenum to provide additional fuel for cold starts.

OPERATION
When engine is cold, below 59° F (15° C), cold start valve is grounded through thermo-time switch. When starter is operated, voltage is applied to valve across starter terminal 50 and valve opens. Voltage is also present at temperature switch causing bimetal strip to heat up across heating coil and lifts off ground contact. This closes valve. Description and Operation
