Check voltage supply of Tiptronic control unit.
1. Remove connector at Tiptronic control unit.
2. Connect voltmeter to pin 26 (positive) and pin 6 negative)
- Display: Battery voltage
3. Connect voltmeter to pin 55 (positive) and pin 28 negative)
- Switch on ignition. Display: Battery voltage
Check speed signal for Tiptronic control unit.
1. Connect system tester 9288.
2. Start engine.
3. Select Tiptronic control unit.
4. Select "Speed" "in menu "Actual Values".
- If no speed is displayed, check cable from ECM pin 80 to Tiptronic control unit pin 43 for discontinuity or short circuit to B+ or ground.
Check wiring from Tiptronic control unit pin 17 to ECM pin 12 for discontinuity.
1. Remove connector at Tiptronic control unit.
2 Remove connector at ECM.
3. Connect ohmmeter between ECM pin 12 and Tiptronic connector pin 17.
- Display: 0- 5 ohms
- If infinite resistance is displayed, check connector X 4/1 pin 9 and wiring harness.
Check wiring from Tiptronic control unit pin 17 to ECM pin 12 for short circuit to ground.
1. Remove connector at Tiptronic control unit.
2. Remove connector at ECM.
3. Connect ohmmeter between ECM connector pin 12 and ground.
- Display: infinite resistance
- If 0 - 5 ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for trapped locations and abrasions.
Check wiring from Tiptronic control unit pin 17 to ECM pin 12 for short circuit to B+.
1. Remove connector at Tiptronic control unit.
2. Remove connector at ECM.
3. Switch on ignition.
4. Connect voltmeter to ECM connector pin 12 and ground.
- Display: 0 Volt
- Check wiring harness for trapped locations and abrasions if battery voltage is displayed.
