Preliminary work
1. Remove trim panel for tailgate. -> 709219 Removing and installing trim panel for tailgate - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

3. Remove the two tail lights in the tailgate.
4. Remove trim panel for rear lid (handle strip). -> 664819 Removing and installing trim panel for rear lid (handle strip) - section on "Removing"

-> Switch off ignition and remove remote control before disconnecting or removing load.
Information
Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!
- Assembly work must only be carried out if the mechanic is wearing the working clothes and shoes approved by Porsche.
- The new part must only be removed from the ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging just before installation and at the position at which the part is to be installed.
- Never touch the electric pins and plug contacts.

Installation position of wire harness for tailgate
1. Unscrew fastening screw for ground connection -3- at the antenna control unit and disconnect ground strap -1-.

2. Press rubber sleeve at the tail light -4- through in an inward direction -A- and pull wiring -1- through towards the inside.

3. Press rubber sleeve on rear lid trim panel (handle strip) -5- inwards -B- and pull the wire harness -1- through towards the inside.

6. Pull off electric plug connection for rear window heating.

8. Unclip fixing clips -6- for wire harness for tailgate at the left.

9. Disconnect wire harness -1- from the bracket next to the window -7- ( -C- ).

11. Remove rubber sleeve -9- and pull wire harness -1- through towards the tailgate -D-.

13. Release connection point for water spray line -E- and pull it off -F-.

14. Release two electric plug connections -a- and pull them off -G + H-.

15. Unclip bracket for the connectors -I- and remove it -J-.

17. Guide the wire harness -1- towards the rear through the cut-outs in the roof -arrow-.

Installation position of wire harness for tailgate

6. Pull off electric plug connection for rear window heating.

10. Unclip fixing clips -6- for wire harness for tailgate at the right.

11. Disconnect wire harness -2- from the bracket next to the window -7- ( -C- ).

13. Remove rubber sleeve -9- and pull wire harness -2- through towards the tailgate -D-.

15. Release two electric plug connections -a- and pull them off -G + H-.

1. Guide the wire harness -1- towards the front through the cut-outs in the roof -arrow-.

2. Clip connector for connection point into the bracket -L-.

3. Clip bracket for connection point into the body -J-.

4. Plug in two electric plug connections for the connection point -G + H- until the connectors engage securely.

5. Fit connection point for water spray line -F- and lock it -E-.

7. Pull wire harness -1- through the tailgate -D- and insert rubber sleeves -9-.

8. Secure wire harness -1- to the bracket at the pass-through point for the rear lid -8- with adhesive tape.
9. Secure wire harness -1- to the bracket -7- with adhesive tape -C-.

15. Pull the wire harness -1- through in an outward direction -B- and press rubber sleeve -5- onto the rear lid trim panel (handle strip) from the inside out.

16. Pull the wire harness -1- through in an outward direction -A- and press rubber sleeve -4- onto the tail light from the inside out -A-.

17. Connect ground strap to the antenna control unit -1- and tighten fastening screw -3- to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).

1. Guide the wire harness -2- towards the front through the cut-outs in the roof -arrow-.

16. Pull the wire harness -2- through in an outward direction -B- and press rubber sleeve -5- onto the rear lid trim panel (handle strip) from the inside out.

17. Pull the wire harness -2- through in an outward direction -A- and press rubber sleeve -4- onto the tail light from the inside out -A-.

18. Connect ground strap to the rear lid -2- and tighten fastening screw -3- to => Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).

Subsequent work
1. Install trim panel for tailgate. -> 709219 Removing and installing trim panel for tailgate - section on "Installing" Service and Repair

3. Install the two tail lights in the tailgate.
