Removing front pneumatic spring
Loosening front pneumatic spring at the lid
CAUTION
Incorrect handling of gas-filled shock absorbers
- Gas-filled shock absorbers can burst
- Risk of eye injuries
- Risk of bruising
-> Gas-filled shock absorbers must be in idle state before removal.
-> Open the lid.
-> Secure the lid to prevent it from closing accidentally following removal of the gas-filled shock absorbers.
-> Do not use force to open the gas-filled shock absorbers because of their high internal pressure.
1. Open the front lid.
2. A second person should hold the front lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
3. Insert a screwdriver between the head of the pneumatic spring -1- and the safety clip.

4. Release the safety clip by levering -A- the screwdriver towards the pneumatic spring -2-. The safety clip remains at the head of the pneumatic spring.
5. Pull the pneumatic spring off the ball pin -B-.
Removing sleeve at the body side
1. Insert a screwdriver between the safety clip -1- and the sleeve -2-.

2. Loosen the safety clip -1- by levering -A- the screwdriver towards the sleeve -2-. The safety clip -1- remains at the head of the sleeve.
3. Pull the sleeve -2- off the ball pin. -B-
4. Pull out the screwdriver.
5. Remove the sleeve.
Installing front pneumatic spring
Securing sleeve at the body side
1. Open the front lid.
2. A second person should hold the front lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
3. If the pneumatic spring is still on the lid, guide it into the sleeve.
3.1. The sleeve for the left pneumatic spring has a pressure lock. This must be released in order to guide the pneumatic spring fully into the sleeve.
4. Press the sleeve -1- onto the ball pin -2- ( -arrow- ) until the safety clip locks with an audible click.

Securing front pneumatic spring at the lid
1. Open the lid.
2. Get a second person to hold the lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
3. Fit pneumatic spring.
4. Press the pneumatic spring -1- onto the ball pin -2- ( -arrow- ) until the safety clip locks with an audible click.

Function test on pneumatic spring
1. Close and open the lid several times to check that the pneumatic springs are working properly and were fitted correctly.
2. Open the lid fully. The two fitted pneumatic springs must hold the lid open.
3. Close the lid.
