PCV Valve Hose: Service and Repair
WM 1052IN Information on positive crankcase ventilation (full-throttle ventilation) - Turbo (OBD2)
Information
- More stringent exhaust emission laws worldwide now mean that gas-conducting lines and vent lines must increasingly undergo diagnosis (checking for leaks).
- It is technically possible to monitor the lines and connection points using additional sensors, but this is seldom done for cost reasons.
- Lines and line connection points are increasingly designed as hard-to-open one-way connections.
- One-way connections or hard-to-open joints are jointed once in the assembly plant or following reinstallation and can only be opened by damaging them irreparably.
- One-way connections or hard-to-open joints are a means of preventing you from inadvertently forgetting a plug connection following repairs.
- One-way connections or hard-to-open joints can only be removed as a complete unit or by damaging them irreparably. Following irreparable damage, the individual parts must be replaced one by one and fitted once during assembly. This will restore the original joint again.
One-way connections on turbo vent lines
General information =>
- Vacuum lines, vent lines and gas-conducting lines are increasingly fitted with hard-to-open joiners or one-way connections.
- Some ends of hoses are bonded to connection pieces, shrink-fit or fitted with one-way clamps.
- The circuits and routings must be removed unopened along with several components in the complete assembly or they must be disassembled and thereby damaged irreparably. This involves using new one-way joiners or replacing entire lengths of tubing.
- If affected one-way connections need to be removed or disassembled in order to replace components or carry out repairs, please read the instructions provided above.
