Fault Code 5/33440, 5/33450





Malfunction indicated
Safety valve signal faulty or absent

Fault symptom
The car goes into Limp Home mode. The TCS CTRL lamp lights up.

Test procedure

1 Check fuse 15.

2 Enter ISAT command code 551 and listen to as certain whether the safety valve is working.

3 Unplug the safety valve connector and check that the resistance across the valve pins is about 30 ohms.
If it is not, change the safety valve.

4 With the ignition switch in the Drive position, check that battery voltage is present across pins 1 and 2 of the unplugged valve connector.
If not, check the BU lead from pin 1 of the connector to fuse 15 and the BN/WH lead between pin 2 of the connector and pin 35 of the control unit for continuity or shorting.




5 With all components connected and with the ignition switch in the Drive position, check the voltage on pin 35 of the ETS control unit, see table.

6 If no fault can be found and the above tests check out OK, clear the fault code and drive the car to see whether it is generated afresh. If it is, try fitting an ETS control unit that is known to be OK.
