Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (LAT) (2.4L Hybrid)

Special Tools
* J 38122-A Harmonic Balancer Holder
* J 45059 Angle Meter

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LE5) (Service and Repair)Drive Belt Replacement (LAT) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the engine splash shield.
3. Install the J 38122-A (1), and a breaker bar to the balancer in order to prevent the balancer from rotating when loosening the balancer bolt.
4. Remove the J 38122-A (1) and breaker bar.




5. Remove and discard the crankshaft balancer bolt.
6. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the crankshaft balancer.
2. Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.




3. Install the J 38122-A (1), and a breaker bar to the balancer in order to prevent the balancer from rotating while tightening the bolt.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt. Tighten the bolt to 100 Nm (74 lb ft) plus an additional 125 degrees using the J 45059 .
5. Install the engine splash shield.
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LE5) (Service and Repair)Drive Belt Replacement (LAT) (Service and Repair).
