Drive Motor Battery 300-Volt Positive and Negative Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Review the high voltage safety information prior to performing the High Voltage Disabling procedure. Refer to High Voltage Safety (High Voltage Safety).
2. Perform the High Voltage disabling procedure. Refer to High Voltage Disabling (High Voltage Disabling).
3. Disconnect the service disconnect. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect (Procedures).
4. Remove the battery positive and negative cover fasteners (1) and gasket (2).




5. Remove the cable terminal fasteners (1).




6. Remove the cable assembly fasteners (1) and the pull out the cable assembly (2).




7. Remove the battery cable fastener (1).




8. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Remove the battery cable fasteners (1).
10. Remove the left frame reinforcement. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (2.4L LE5 and 2.4L LAT) (Service and Repair)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (3.5L LZ4, 3.6L LY7 and 3.6L LSC) (Service and Repair).




11. Remove the battery cable fasteners (1).
12. Remove the evaporative emission canister. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Lower the rear frame enough to allow the cable to be removed. Refer to Support Replacement (Service and Repair).




15. Remove the battery cable fasteners (1).
16. Remove the battery extension cover. Refer to Drive Motor Battery Cable Terminal Extension Cover Replacement (Drive Motor Battery Cable Terminal Extension Cover Replacement).




17. Remove the battery cable fastener (1) , the cover ground fastener (2) , and the battery terminal fasteners (3). Push the positive and negative cables through the floor.




18. Remove the drive motor battery positive and negative cable (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the drive motor battery positive and negative cable (1) to the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Push the drive motor battery positive and negative cable leads through the floor. Install the battery cable fastener (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
3. Tighten the cover ground fastener (2) to 11 Nm (100 lb in).
4. Tighten the battery terminal fasteners (3) and tighten to 8 Nm (79 lb in).
5. Install the evaporative emission canister. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the rear frame. Refer to Support Replacement (Service and Repair).




8. Install the battery cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
9. Install the battery extension cover. Refer to Drive Motor Battery Cable Terminal Extension Cover Replacement (Drive Motor Battery Cable Terminal Extension Cover Replacement).




10. Install the battery cable fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




11. Install the left frame reinforcement. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (2.4L LE5 and 2.4L LAT) (Service and Repair)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (3.5L LZ4, 3.6L LY7 and 3.6L LSC) (Service and Repair).
12. Install the battery cable fastener (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




13. Install the battery cable fastener (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




14. Install the cable assembly (2) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




15. Install the cable terminal fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




16. Install the battery positive and negative cover gasket (2) and fasteners (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
17. Reconnect the service disconnect. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect (Procedures).
18. Perform the High Voltage enabling procedure. Refer to High Voltage Enabling (High Voltage Enabling).
