DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0710 is set when the PCM has detected the following conditions for more than 25.6 minutes.
^ No ground/open in the temperature circuit.
^ No short in the temperature circuit.
^ Temperature value (TV) is less than a calculated temperature based on engine temperature (ET) and intake air temperature (IAT).
TV < [(ET + IAT)] / 2 - 53°C.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbered steps below refer to numbered steps on chart.
1. This step verifies the problem is still present.
2. This step verifies proper PCM operation.
3. This step indicates faulty transaxle fluid temperature sensor or faulty wires/connections.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
When attempting to diagnose an intermittent problem use the Scan tool* to review supplemental diagnostic information. The supplemental data can be used to duplicate a problem.
* Select MALF History and DTC status from DTC menu of Scan tool.
Check the tightness of the female terminal grip with a spare male terminal.
Since this DTC does not set with a ground/open or short the problem is probably added resistance in the wiring.
Check for excessive corrosion or water in connector.
REPAIR VERIFICATION
Monitor DTC menu "Code Status" for "Pass Since Code Clear" and "Pass This Ignition Cycle." When both have passed, repair is verified.
Criteria for pass:
^ Same criteria as fail
^ Criteria ok for 100 seconds
