P0453

Diagnostic Chart:

Schematic:

The fuel tank pressure sensor is a three-wire strain gauge sensor that responds to changes in pressure in the fuel tank. The sensor measures the difference between the air pressure (or vacuum) in the fuel tank and the ambient air pressure. When air pressure in the fuel tank is equal to outside air pressure (e.g., fuel fill cap removed), the output of the sensor will be 1.3 to 1.7 volts

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0453 will set if the signal voltage is greater than 4.9 volts for greater than 25 seconds while engine is running.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An intermittent open in the signal or 5-volt return (ground) wire or connections will set a P0453. Intermittent connections can be diagnosed using the Scan tool by wiggling wire connectors and harnesses while monitoring fuel tank pressure voltage.
