DTC Descriptor
DTC B1319 04
- Immobiliser Receiver Circuit Malfunction
Circuit/System Description
When a remote key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is turned ON, the transponder embedded in the remote key is energized by the exciter coils located in the theft deterrent module (TDM) surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the TDM. The TDM is directly secured to the steering column module (CIM). The CIM compares this unique value to a value stored in memory. If the value is correct, the CIM will request vehicle starting.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition ON
Conditions for Setting the DTC
A circuit fault is detected in the theft deterrent module
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* Vehicle starting is disabled
* The Service Vehicle Soon lamp will flash and/or the Safeguard Check message is displayed on the driver information center (DIC)
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* A current DTC will clear when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer seen.
* A history DTC will clear after 100 malfunction free ignition cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
The TDM is directly secured to the CIM. There is no wiring harness connecting the two modules, nor are there any circuits to diagnose.
