Circuit/System Description

The lateral accelerometer and the yaw rate sensors are combined into one sensor external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) uses the lateral accelerometer input when calculating the desired yaw rate. The usable output signal is a serial data signal CAN high and CAN low serial data circuits.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor fails an internal self test.
* Communication is lost between the EBCM and the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor.
* The correlation error between the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor and steering angle sensor .

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The EBCM disables the VSES for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the warning indicator/message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

An incorrectly mounted sensor can cause these faults.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition On, verify that DTC C0292 is not set.

If the DTC is set, Refer to DTC C0292 (C0292) .

2. Verify the yaw/lateral accelerometer is mounted properly.

If not mounted properly, refer to Vehicle Yaw Sensor with Vehicle Lateral and Longitudinal Accelerometer Replacement (Service and Repair) .

3. Replace the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor. If the DTC resets, replace the EBCM.
