Removal and Replacement



Throttle Body Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.






1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement).
3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the electronic throttle control (ETC).




4. Remove the heater inlet and outlet pipe nuts (1).
5. Remove the heater inlet and outlet pipe bracket from the throttle body studs. Reposition the pipes.




6. Remove the throttle body bolts (9) and nuts (10).
7. Remove the throttle body (8).
8. Remove and discard the throttle body gasket (7).



Installation Procedure





1. Install a NEW throttle body gasket (7).
2. Install the throttle body (8).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

3. Install the throttle body bolts (9) and nuts (10).

Tighten the bolts/nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





4. Reposition the heater inlet and outlet pipes and install the pipe bracket to the throttle body studs.
5. Install the heater inlet and outlet pipe nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





6. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the ETC.
7. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement).
8. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Perform the Throttle Learn Procedure. Refer to Throttle Learn (Programming and Relearning).
