Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Right Side (LY7 - Gas, 6 Cyl, 3.6L, SFI, V6, Alum, 60 Degrees)

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution (Service Precautions).
Caution: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Caution (Protective Goggles and Glove Warning).





1. Remove the bank 1 sensor 1 heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (Service and Repair).
2. Raise the vehicle to an appropriate height to reach the heat shield bolts. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals).
3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Important: It may be necessary to gently pull down on the catalytic converter in order to remove the heat shield.


4. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.



Installation Procedure






Important: It may be necessary to gently pull down on the catalytic converter in order to install the heat shield.


1. Install and position the exhaust manifold heat shield onto the exhaust manifold.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the bank 1 sensor 1 HO2S. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (Service and Repair).
