Steering Wheel Horn Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).

1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove the airbag. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the horn control.

* Disconnect the 2 wiring harness plugs (1).
* Remove the 3 bolts (2).
* Remove the horn switch.
* Remove the signal switch board (3).

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the horn switch.

* Insert the signal switch board.
* Insert the signal switch control.

Tighten the 3 bolts to 2.5 Nm (22 lb in).

* Connect the 2 wiring harness plug.

2. Install the airbag unit. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (Service and Repair).

* Connect and lock the wiring harness plug.
* Clamp the airbag unit in place.

3. Connect the battery.
4. Carry out the readiness test.
After ignition ON, the airbag system readiness check light comes on for 4 seconds and then goes out.
