Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement

* J 45400 Strut Spring Compressor
* KM-6399 Spanner

Disassembly Procedure

1. Remove the strut from the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement (Strut Assembly Replacement).
2. Mark component location and installation position.




3. Install the strut (2) in the J 45400 (1).

Note: The spring is compressed when the strut moves freely.

4. Turn the spring compressor forcing screw until the coil spring is compressed.
5. Loosen the compressor forcing screw until the upper strut mount and coil spring may be removed.




6. Detach the upper strut mount nut using KM-6399 .




7. Remove the upper strut mount and the coil spring from the J 45400 .
8. Remove the strut (2) from the J 45400 .

Assembly Procedure




1. Install the coil spring and upper strut mount to the J 45400 .
2. Turn the spring compressor forcing screw (1) until the coil spring is compressed.
3. Install the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount.
4. Loosely install the strut retaining nut.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: Use a new nut.

5. Install the upper strut mount nut using KM-6399 .

Tighten the strut mount nut to 80 Nm (59 lb ft).

6. Remove the strut from the J 45400 .
7. Install the strut to the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement (Strut Assembly Replacement).
