Clutch Pedal Assembly: Service and Repair




Clutch Pedal Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the steering column jacket (2).
2. Remove the light switch (1).
Press in light switch in left position and turn clockwise.




3. Remove the lower instrument panel padding (3).

* Remove the 4 bolts.
* Remove from bracket.

4. Disconnect the clutch control switch (1).
Note: If present

5. Remove the restoring spring from the clutch pedal.




6. Remove the clutch pedal from the clutch master cylinder.

* Remove the retaining plate (3).
Bend up slightly with a screwdriver.
* Remove the pedal bolt (2).

7. Remove the pedal support from the tie bar.
Remove the 2 bolts (1).





Note: Do not damage the wiring harness and attaching parts.

8. Remove the pedal support from clutch master cylinder.

* Remove the 2 nuts (2).
* Push the clutch master cylinder back.

9. Remove the pedal support carefully with clutch pedal.

Installation Procedure

Note:
* Do not damage the wiring harnesses and attaching parts.
* Use new bolts.

1. Install the pedal support with clutch pedal.
Install the 2 bolts (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: Use new nuts.

2. Install the pedal support to the tie bar.

Tighten the 2 nuts (2) to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




3. Install the pedal support bolts.

Tighten the 2 pedal support bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

Note: Use new retaining plate.

4. Install the clutch pedal to the clutch master cylinder.

* Install the pedal bolt (2).
* Install the retaining plate (3).

5. Install the restoring spring to clutch pedal.




6. Connect the clutch control switch (1).

Note: If present

7. Install the drivers knee bolster (3).

Tighten the 4 bolts to 2.5 Nm (22 lb in).
Attach to bracket.
8. Install the light switch (1).
Insert light switch and turn counterclockwise.




9. Install the steering column jacket (2).
