Circuit/System Description
The front power windows are controlled by the driver window switch, front passenger window switch and the rear fuse block. The driver window switch contains the master power window switch that controls all power window operations. When a power window switch is activated to a desired position, power window switch will send a signal to it's respective door window motor to move the window to the desired position. The window motors may also receive a comfort closing command from the rear fuse block which will cause all windows to perform the express down function.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, command each window UP and DOWN using the window switches on the driver master control and by using the passenger door window switch. Each window should perform the UP and DOWN functions from each switch.
• If the driver door window malfunctions, refer to Driver Power Window Malfunction.
• If the passenger door window malfunctions, refer to Passenger Power Window Malfunction.
2. Command each window to express down by pressing and holding the respective window switch until the window powers approximately one quarter of the way down and releasing the window switch. The window should roll completely down.
• If a window fails to perform the express down function, refer to Window Motor Programming - Express Function (Programming and Relearning).
3. Ignition OFF, with the doors locked, command both windows to express DOWN by pressing and holding the unlock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter, both windows should perform the express DOWN function.
• If either window fails to perform the express DOWN command, refer to Comfort Closing Command Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Driver Power Window Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 26 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
3. Connect the harness connector at the driver window switch. Disconnect the harness connector at the driver window motor.
4. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
5. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
6. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and control circuit terminal 3.
7. Command the driver window UP and DOWN by using the driver window switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the driver window switch.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the driver window switch.
8. If all circuits test normal, replace the driver window motor.
Passenger Power Window Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 3 and control circuit terminal 6.
4. Command the passenger window UP and DOWN by using the RF window switch on the driver master control. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the driver window switch.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the driver window switch.
5. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the passenger window switch and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window motor.
6. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 3.
7. Ignition ON, command the passenger window UP and DOWN by using the passenger window switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
• If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the passenger window switch.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the passenger window switch.
8. If all circuits test normal, replace the passenger window motor.
Comfort Closing Command Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate window motor.
2. Ignition ON, test for greater than 9 volts between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block.
3. Test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground while commanding the Comfort Closing Test function with a scan tool.
• If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the window motor.
Component Testing
Driver Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals 11 and 12 and the B+ terminal 26 with the RF window switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the driver window switch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 12 and the B+ terminal 26 with the RF window switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 11 and the B+ terminal 26 with the RF window switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals 27 and 28 and the B+ terminal 26 with the driver window switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the driver window switch.
6. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 28 and the B+ terminal 26 with the driver window switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
7. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 27 and the B+ terminal 26 with the driver window switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the driver window switch.
Passenger Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the control terminals 2 and 5 and the B+ terminal 1 with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
• If less than the specified value, replace the passenger window switch.
3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 5 and the B+ terminal 1 with the switch in the UP position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the control terminal 2 and the B+ terminal 1 with the switch in the DOWN position.
• If greater than the specified range, replace the passenger window switch.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
