SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM: B1797: Calibration Malfunction

DTC B1797 - Calibration Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

DTC B1797 is output when one of the following conditions is met:

- Zero point calibration is performed when the conditions for the calibration are not satisfied.

- Zero point calibration has failed.

Conditions for the zero point calibration:









HINT: When DTC B1650/32 is detected as a result of troubleshooting for the AIRBAG SYSTEM, check the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. When DTC B1797 is output, perform troubleshooting for the DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU .
(c) Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor .
(d) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
(f) Check for the DTCs .
OK:
DTC B1797 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPECIFIED CONDITION FOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION)
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPECIFIED CONDITION FOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION)
(a) Connect an intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the "DATA LIST" or "Data List" .

B -- PERFORM REGISTRATION BEFORE ECU EXCHANGE

3. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
(a) Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, perform zero point calibration .
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU .
(c) Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor .
(d) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(f) Check for the DTCs .
OK:
DTC B1797 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- PERFORM REGISTRATION BEFORE ECU EXCHANGE
OK -- END
5. PERFORM REGISTRATION BEFORE ECU EXCHANGE
(a) Connect an intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU which was installed on the vehicle .
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION (OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR)
(a) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Replace the front seat cushion (with occupant classification ECU and occupant detection sensor) .
(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
7. PERFORM REGISTRATION AFTER ECU EXCHANGE
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Using an intelligent tester or Techstream, load the previous ECU data stored in the tester into the new ECU .
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
8. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
(a) Using an intelligent tester or Techstream, perform zero point calibration .
(b) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(d) Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU .
HINT: If the DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain.

9. PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK
(a) Perform the sensitivity check .
