C1214: ABS Relay Faulty

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
ABS relay is internal part of EBCM.
Battery voltage is supplied from terminals E136-1 and E136-2 for ABS relay switch at all times. When ignition switch is turned ON, battery voltage from terminal E136-15 is supplied to ABS relay coil. EBCM will then ground ABS relay coil circuit to switch ABS relay on, this supplies solenoids and pump motor with battery voltage. ABS relay will remain in the on position as long as ignition switch remains on, or a DTC is set, which turns off relay.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC C1214 can be set after ignition switch is turned to ON, and EBCM commands ABS relay on, if the ignition voltage is greater than 10.5 volts and the switched ABS relay voltage drops less than 8.0 volts for 1/4 of a second.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ ABS relay is commanded off, removing battery voltage from the all solenoids and pump motor.
^ ABS disabled, ABS warning light is turned on.
^ DTC C1214 is stored.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Typical Causes of DTC C1214.
^ Weak or discharged battery.
^ Loose or corroded battery terminals.
^ Engine block ground from battery poor.
^ Poor or loose ABS fuse contacts.
^ Poor EBCM terminals E136-15, E136-1, E136-2 and E136-4.
^ Low voltage to EBCM terminals E136-1 and/or E136-2.
^ Internal EBCM failure.
