C1258: 4WD Switch Circuit Faulty








CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

Vehicles equipped with 2 Wheel Drive only still use EBCM 4 Wheel Drive input terminal. When ignition is turned on, battery voltage is applied to EBCM terminal E136-5 to indicate vehicle is in 2 Wheel Drive.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC C1258 will be set when the voltage on the 4WD input circuit is between 3.36 volts and 5.25 volts at any time.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ ABS relay open, removing power from pump motor and solenoids.
^ DTC C1258 is stored.
^ ABS disabled, ABS warning light turns on.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Typical Causes of DTC C1258.
^ Poor terminal connection at EBCM.
^ Faulty EBCM.
^ Open fuse.
