Wiring Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The MAF sensor consists of heat resistor (1), metering duct (2), molded honeycomb (3), body, control circuit (4), etc.

It detects the mass flow of the air drawn (5) into the engine and sends that information to ECM (PCM) as a current signal.

ECM (PCM) uses the signal as one of the signals to control various devices.

This MAF sensor is a thermal control type including a heat-resistor and a control circuit (1).

The heat resistor is cooled off by the intake air and the control circuit controls the heat-resistor temperature (the amount of electric current flowing to the heat-resistor) so as to keep it within a certain difference range from the ambient temperature. Then this control value is output as a current signal.

DTC Detecting Condition And Trouble Area:

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Check to make sure that following conditions are satisfied when using this "DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE".
- Intake air temp.: -8 °C (18 °F) or higher
- Engine coolant temp.: -8 - 110 °C (18 - 230 °F)
- Altitude (barometric pressure) : 2400 m, 8000 ft or less (560 mmHg, 75 kPa or more)

1. Connect scan tool to DLC with ignition switch OFF.
2. Turn ON ignition switch and clear DTC, pending DTC and freeze frame data by using scan tool and run engine at idle speed for 20 sec. or more.
3. Check DTC by using scan tool.
