DTC C1215: Idle Up Circuit Faulty

Circuit Description
EBCM is connected to ECM (PCM) through idle up request circuit. During certain ABS events, EBCM will command ECM (PCM) to increase engine idle speed. EBCM sends a 12 volt signal on idle up request circuit to ECM (PCM).
When idle up request is needed, EBCM will pull voltage low to under 1 volt to signal to ECM (PCM) that an increase in idle speed is needed.

DTC Detecting Condition
DTC C1215 can be set anytime EBCM requests normal idle speed and the voltage on idle up circuit is less than 3.5 volts. DTC C1215 can also be set if EBCM requests an increase in idle speed (idle up) and voltage on the idle up request circuit is greater than 4.0 volts.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
- DTC C1215 is stored
- ABS remains functional.

Diagnostic Aids
Typical Causes of DTC C1215.
- Poor terminal contact on idle up request circuit.
- Short to ground on idle up request circuit.
- Short to battery on idle up request circuit.
