DTC B1021: Air Bag Module Exploded
DTC Will be Set when
The SDM detects a crash of sufficient force to warrant activation of the front (Driver, Passenger and both seat bolt pretensioner) air bag module. (SDM outputs a deployment command.)
Flow Test Description
Step 2: Check that DTC B1021 has been set although front-air bag has not been deployed.
Step 3: Check that DTC has been set due to failure of SDM.
NOTE:
Before executing items in this flow, be sure to perform Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.
2. Turn ignition switch OFF.
Has front-air bag deployed?
YES -
Replace components and perform inspections as directed in Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident:Advanced Air Bag.
NO -
Go to Step 3.
3. Inspect front of vehicle and undercarriage for signs of impact.
Are there signs of impact?
YES -
Replace components and perform inspections as directed in Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident:Advanced Air Bag.
NO -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
- Clear DTCs of BCM. DTC Clearance
