Fuel Tank Inlet Valve Removal and Installation
Removal
1) Remove fuel filler cap.
2) Insert hose of a hand operated pump into fuel filler hose (1) and drain fuel in space "A" shown in figure.
WARNING:
There is a risk of fire or explosion if the drained fuel is stored in an inappropriate container.
Avoid using an open container to hold the fuel.
NOTE:
The hose of the hand-operated pump could damage the fuel tank inlet valve if too much force is used when inserting it into the fuel tank.
Do not apply too strong a force when inserting the pump hose into the fuel tank.
3) Hoist vehicle, and remove clamps (2) and fuel filler hose (1).
4) Remove fuel tank inlet valves (1) using flat-blade screwdriver (2) or the like.
NOTE:
If you are not careful when removing the fuel tank inlet valve (1), you can damage it.
Be careful not to damage the fuel tank inlet valve when using the flat-blade screwdriver or the like.
Installation
Fuel Tank Inlet Valve Inspection
1) Install fuel tank inlet valves (1) to fuel filler neck (3) and fuel tank (2).
2) Install fuel filler hose (1) to fuel filler neck and fuel tank and secure it with clamps (2).
For proper installation, refer to Fuel Hose Disconnecting and Reconnecting Fuel Hose Disconnecting and Reconnecting.
Tightening torque
Fuel filler hose clamp (a): 3.5 Nm (0.36 kgf-m, 3.0 lbf-ft)
3) Lower vehicle and install fuel filler cap.
