Variable Induction Control Actuator: Testing and Inspection
IMT (Intake Manifold Tuning) Vacuum Solenoid Valve On-Vehicle Inspection
WARNING:
If vacuum is applied using your mouth, there is a risk of inhaling harmful fuel vapor.
Be sure to use a hand vacuum pump to apply vacuum.
NOTE:
If too high a vacuum is applied, the IMT vacuum solenoid valve may be damaged.
Do not exceed a vacuum of -86 kPa (-12.47 psi).
1) Prepare to operate IMT vacuum solenoid valve as follows.
a) Connect special tool (ECM check harness) between ECM and ECM connector. Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters
Special Tool
09933-06330
NOTE:
Operate IMT vacuum solenoid valve using service wire as follows.
- IMT vacuum solenoid valve OFF: Disconnect service wire to "C37-42" terminal from vehicle body ground [a]
- IMT vacuum solenoid valve ON:
Connect service wire to "C37-42" terminal to vehicle body ground [b]
2) Disconnect vacuum hose No.1 (1) from vacuum tank and vacuum hose No.2 from IMT vacuum solenoid valve (2).
3) Install special tool to vacuum hose No.1 (1).
Special Tool
(A): 09917-47011
4) Check that IMT vacuum solenoid valve (2) operates as follows.
If faulty condition is found, check the following.
- Wire harness and connections
- IMT vacuum solenoid valve
- Vacuum hoses
a) Operate the special tool and check that vacuum of -60 kPa (-0.6 kgf/cm2, -8.7 psi, -0.6 bar) can be applied when IMT vacuum solenoid valve is turned OFF [A].
b) Operate the special tool and check that no vacuum can be applied when IMT vacuum solenoid valve is turned ON [B].
