Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
CAN Communication System Check
1. DTC check
Connect SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) to DLC.
Check control modules communicated by means of CAN for DTCs.
Is "Control Module Bus OFF" detected at any of control modules?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Step 3.
2. Intermittent problems check
Check for proper terminal connection to each CAN communication circuit at all control module / sensors (communicated by CAN) connectors.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off
NO -
Connect connector securely and recheck DTC.
3. DTC check
Is "Lost Communication" detected at any of control modules?
YES -
Go to Troubleshooting for Lost Communication Troubleshooting for Lost Communication.
NO -
Go to Step 4.
4. Communication check of each control module
Are they possible to communicate with all control modules which communicated by means of CAN by using SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT)?
YES -
CAN communication system is good condition.
NO -
Go to Step 5.
5. DLC circuit check
Disconnect SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) from DLC.
Check DLC power circuit, ground circuit and serial communication circuit for breaking, shorting and high resistance.
Is each circuit in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair circuit.
6. SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) check
Check if SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) is communicable by connecting to another vehicle.
Can SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) communicate properly?
YES -
Go to Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off Troubleshooting for Communication Bus Off.
NO -
Replace SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI SDT) and recheck.
