CVT System Check




CVT System Check

Refer to the following items for the details of each step.
1. Customer complaint analysis

Perform customer complaint analysis.

Was customer complaint analysis performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Perform customer complaint analysis.

2. DTC / freeze frame data check, record and clearance

Check for DTC (including pending DTC).

Is there any DTC(s)?
YES -
Print DTC and freeze frame data or write them down and clear them by referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance. Then go to Step 3.
NO -
Go to Step 4.

3. Visual inspection

Perform visual inspection.

Is there any faulty condition?
YES -
Repair or replace malfunction part. Then go to Step 11.
NO -
Go to Step 5.

4. Visual inspection

Perform visual inspection.

Is there any faulty condition?
YES -
Repair or replace malfunction part. Then go to Step 11.
NO -
Go to Step 8.

5. Trouble symptom confirmation

Confirm trouble symptom.

Is trouble symptom identified?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Go to Step 7.

6. Rechecking and recording of DTC / freeze frame data

Recheck for DTC and freeze frame data. DTC Check

Is there any DTC(s)?
YES -
Go to Step 9.
NO -
Go to Step 8.

7. Rechecking and recording of DTC / freeze frame data

Recheck for DTC and freeze frame data. DTC Check

Is there any DTC(s)?
YES -
Go to Step 9.
NO -
Go to Step 10.

8. CVT basic check and CVT symptom diagnosis

Perform CVT basic check and CVT symptom diagnosis.

Are check and repair completed?
YES -
Go to Step 11.
NO -
Check and repair malfunction part(s). Then go to Step 11.

9. Troubleshooting for DTC

Perform troubleshooting for applicable DTC.

Are check and repair completed?
YES -
Go to Step 11.
NO -
Check and repair malfunction part(s). Then go to Step 11.

10. Intermittent problems check

Check for intermittent problem.

Is there any faulty condition?
YES -
Repair or replace malfunction part(s). Then go to Step 11.
NO -
Go to Step 11.

11. Final confirmation test

Perform final confirmation test.

Is there any problem symptom, DTC or abnormal condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
End.

Step 1. Customer Complaint Analysis

Record details of the problem (failure, complaint) and how it occurred as described by the customer.

For this purpose, use of such an inspection form as shown in the following page as an example will facilitate collecting information to the point required for proper analysis and diagnosis.

NOTE:

The form is a standard sample. It should be modified according to conditions characteristic of each market.

Step 2. DTC / Freeze Frame Data Check, Record and Clearance

First, check DTC (current and pending DTC). DTC Check

If DTC is indicated, print DTC and freeze frame data or write them down and then clear them. DTC Clearance

Step 3 and 4. Visual Inspection

As a preliminary step, be sure to perform visual check of the items that support proper function of engine and CVT. Visual Inspection

Step 5. Trouble Symptom Confirmation

In case that there is no DTC at Step 2:

Based on information obtained in Step 1. Customer Complaint Analysis
and Step 2. DTC / Freeze Frame Data Check, Record and Clearance
, confirm trouble symptoms.

In case that there is any DTC at Step 2:

Recheck DTC according to "DTC Confirmation Procedure" described in each DTC troubleshooting.

Step 6 and 7. Rechecking and Record of DTC and Freeze Frame Data

Refer to DTC Check DTC Check
for checking procedure.

Step 8. CVT Basic Check and CVT Symptom Diagnosis

1) Perform CVT basic check. CVT Basic Check
2) In case there is no faulty part found in inspection procedure of "CVT basic check", perform CVT Symptom Diagnosis CVT Symptom Diagnosis
based on symptom found in vehicle checking in the following items.
- Customer complaint analysis
- Trouble symptom confirmation

Step 9. Troubleshooting for DTC

Perform applicable DTC troubleshooting and repair or replace faulty parts.

Step 10. Intermittent Problems Check

In case that there is no DTC at Step 2:

Check for intermittent problem. Intermittent and Poor Connection Inspection

In case that there is any DTC at Step 2:

Check parts related to detected DTC (e.g., wire harness, connector, etc.). Intermittent and Poor Connection Inspection

Step 11. Final Confirmation Test

Confirm that the problem symptom has gone and the vehicle is free from any abnormal conditions. If what has been repaired is related to DTC, clear DTC once, perform DTC confirmation procedure and confirm that no DTC is indicated.
