Component Tests and General Diagnostics
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. INSPECT POWER WINDOW
NOTE: Initial condition that the customizing function is not chosen by TOYOTA hand-held tester is shown.
a. CHECK BASIC FUNCTION (MANUAL OPERATION FUNCTION)
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Check that the door glass will rise when operating the power window regulator master switch to UP side, and the door glass will go down when operating it to DOWN side.
3. Check that the door glass will rise when operating the power window regulator switch of each door to UP side, and the door glass will go down when operating it to DOWN side.
4. Check that the door glass other than the driver's seat will not operate when locking the window locking switch.
b. CHECK AUTOMATIC OPERATION FUNCTION (ONLY DRIVER'S SEAT)
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Check that it operates AUTO UP and the door glass will be fully close when operating the master switch of the power window regulator for the driver's seat to UP side by double sifting.
3. Check that it operates AUTO DOWN and the door glass will be fully open when operating the master switch of the power window regulator for the driver's seat to DOWN side by double sifting.
4. Check that the door glass will stop during the AUTO DOWN operation, when operating the power window switch to UP side, (However, when the UP and DOWN operations are continued, it will transfer to the manual operation).
5. Check that the door glass will stop during the AUTO UP operation, when operating the power window switch to DOWN side, (However, when the UP and DOWN operations are continued, it will transfer to the manual operation).
c. CHECK OPERATION FUNCTION AFTER KEY-OFF
1. After turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF, check that the door glass of each seat can be operated by switch of the regulator master switch assembly. Also, check that the operation will become impossible once the driver's door is closed after opened.
2. After turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF, check that the switch of the regulator master switch assembly will be unable to operate the door glass approximately 45 seconds later.
3. After turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF with the driver's door open, check that AUTO UP or DOWN operation keeps working to the fully-closed or fully-opened position even if the door is closed during the AUTO operation. Also, check that the power window operation becomes impossible after all the operations done.
d. CHECK OPERATION FUNCTION BY DRIVER'S DOOR KEY OPERATION (OPERATION INTERLOCKED WITH KEY)
1. Check that the driver's door glass will go down when the door lock cylinder is held in the UNLOCK side for 2 seconds or more by the key operation. Also, check that the door glass will stop when the door lock cylinder is turned back to the neutral position.
2. Check that the driver's door glass will go up when the door lock cylinder is held in the LOCK side for 2 seconds or more by the key operation. Also, check that the door glass will stop when the door lock cylinder is turned back to the neutral position.
e. CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION (ONLY DRIVER'S SEAT)
NOTE:
- Never check it with any part of your body such as hand caught between the glass and the vehicle's body. Also, pay thorough attention not to get caught in there during the operation.
- In case of resetting the power window regulator motor assembly, check should be carried out after repeating to raise and lower the door glass several times by the AUTO operation.
HINT: Jam protection function works during the following UP operations; AUTO UP, UP after key OFF, AUTO UP after key OFF, UP interlocked with key.
1. Open the door glass fully.
2. Set the handle of the hammer near the fully-closed position.
3. When fully closing the door glass with AUTO UP, check that it moves down without the hammer handle getting caught and will go down by about 200 mm (7.87 in.) and stop there.
HINT: The window goes down by about 50 mm or for 1 second. In case that the opening value is below 200 mm, the window goes down by 200 mm or keeps going down for 5 seconds, and stops then.
4. During the lowering operation, check that it will not move up even with the input of window regulator master switch.
