P0A32
P310 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0A32-666: Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
DTC P0A32-666 - Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
DTC P0A33-665 - Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit High
DESCRIPTION
The resistance of the thermistor built into the motor temperature sensor changes in accordance with changes in MG2 temperature. The lower the MG2 temperature, the higher the thermistor resistance. Conversely, the higher the temperature, the lower the resistance.
HINT: The term "drive motor B" indicates MGR.
HINT: After confirming that DTC P0A32-666 or P0A33-665 is output, use the Techstream to check "Rear Motor Temp" in the hybrid vehicle control ECU data list.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR)
(a) Check the connections of all hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.
OK:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(d) Read the value of "Rear Motor Temp" in the data list displayed on Techstream.
Result:
HINT:
- If there is an open or +B short circuit, -58°F (-50°C) will be displayed.
- If there is a GND short circuit, 401°F (205°C) will be displayed.
C -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
B -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Result:
HINT: The rear motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
C -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
A -- REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connector D36 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Connect terminals 21 (RMT) and 20 (RMTG) of connector D36 of the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(e) Read the data list.
OK:
HINT: If the Techstream shows a temperature of -58°F (-50°C), check the connection of the hybrid vehicle control ECU. If it is connected normally, replace the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
6. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(e) Read the data list.
OK:
HINT: The rear motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
OK -- REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connector D36 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(e) Read the data list.
OK:
NOTE: Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
