ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY
(a) Listen to the throttle control motor operating.
(1) Put the engine in inspection mode Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
(2) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(3) While depressing the accelerator pedal, listen to the motor. Make sure that no friction noise comes from the motor.
If friction noise exists, replace the throttle body.
(b) Inspect the throttle position sensor.
(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(2) Put the engine in inspection mode Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
(3) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(4) Check that the MIL turns off.
(5) Turn the Techstream main switch on.
(6) Select the menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Position.
(7) Check that the throttle valve opening percentage is within the standard range below.
Standard throttle valve opening percentage:
60% or more
If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body.
NOTE: When checking the throttle valve opening percentage, the transmission should be in neutral.
