Taillight Relay Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The Multiplex network body ECU controls TAIL relay when signal is received from headlight dimmer switch assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Body / Active Test.
(e) Check the operation.

Body





OK:
Tail lights come on.
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT TAIL LIGHT RELAY





(a) Inspect tail light relay continuity.
Resistance:






NG -- REPLACE TAIL LIGHT RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Measure voltage between the terminal 1A-1 and body ground.





Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Measure voltage between the each of terminals as shown in the chart below.





Voltage:






OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
NG -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
